Netherlands Selects L3Harris Falcon IV Radios in $1.1B Deal

L3Harris has signed a 1 billion euro ($1.1 billion) agreement with the Dutch Ministry of Defence to deliver advanced Falcon IV radios.

Falcon IV systems enable interoperability with over one million tactical devices deployed worldwide.

The acquisition aims to strengthen secure military communications and enhance coordination with European and NATO forces.

“These resilient devices will enable enhanced capability to strengthen homeland defenses, deter regional conflicts and provide direct support to coalition and security cooperation efforts,” said Sam Mehta, President of Communication Systems at L3Harris.

Falcon IV Radio

The Falcon IV is a dual-channel system designed for secure data transmission in military operations.

Each channel functions independently, supporting voice communication, intelligence sharing, and data transfer.

Its simultaneous crossbanding capability ensures connectivity across command levels.

The extended wideband allows fast data transfer, including high-definition, full-motion video, enhancing situational awareness.

The radio is compatible with various waveforms, enabling both line-of-sight and beyond-line-of-sight communication in diverse operational environments.

L3Harris Radios for the Netherlands

In recent years, the Netherlands has signed multi-billion-dollar deals with L3Harris for radio systems to strengthen its military capabilities.

In October of last year, the US approved the potential sale of L3Harris portable radio equipment to Amsterdam for $1.42 billion.

The delivery includes multiband networking manpack AN/PRC-117G radios, wideband networking handheld AN/PRC-152A radios, and wideband high- and very high-frequency manpack AN/PRC-160 radios.

In 2023, the Dutch Ministry of Defense announced a $2.7 billion plan to equip approximately 8,000 vehicles, 3,500 military personnel, 135 vessels, and 170 aircraft with new L3Harris-made combat net radios.
