The US has delivered additional M1A2 Abrams main battle tanks to Poland in support of a foreign military sale signed in 2022.
The tranche includes 19 platforms built with the System Enhanced Package 3 configuration for improved combat, maneuverability, and crew protection.
Following the handover, the vehicles will be sent to a military center in Poznań to undergo in-country evaluation required by the Polish Armed Forces.

Polish Abrams Program
Warsaw received the initial batch of M1A2s from the US in January, with the package consisting of 28 systems.
By 2026, the US is expected to supply approximately 250 Abrams to Poland, and about 116 refurbished M1A1s to complement the newer variants.
The deal also includes 26 M88A2 Hercules recovery vehicles and 17 M1074 Joint Assault Bridge Systems based on the Abrams chassis, as well as logistics services, training, and ammunition.
In 2024, the Polish defense agency opened a regional maintenance facility to support the NATO member’s incoming Abrams fleet and those from partner forces stationed in the country.
The Abrams Main Battle Tank
General Dynamics developed the Abrams tank to enhance the ground-based heavy combat capability of the US Armed Forces and its allied militaries.
The vehicle was introduced in the 1980s and has received multiple upgrades since its inception.
The Abrams’ next-generation chassis, the M1A2, weighs 134,000 pounds (60,781 kilograms) and measures 32 feet (10 meters) in length.
It is equipped with a metal-ceramic composite armor, a 120-millimeter main gun, a .50-caliber heavy machine gun, and M240 support machine guns.
The tank is operated by a crew of four and is powered by a Honeywell AGT1500 turbine engine with 1,500 horsepower.
It has a range of 260 miles (418 kilometers) and a speed of more than 40 miles (64 kilometers) per hour.
