AI Takes Hours Out of F-35 Production at Northrop Grumman
Northrop Grumman is putting artificial intelligence to work on the F-35 Lightning II production line, using AI-powered robotics and quality-control systems to speed up manufacturing.
The tech has already cut some manufacturing tasks from hours to minutes, while AI-based inspection systems can spot potential defects in F-35 components before they leave the factory.
“We recently installed a co-bot that assists technicians to precisely install bolts to attach the front housing area of the [CNI] module,” said Lavell Catlin, manufacturing manager for the CNI production line.
