Utah-based firm Fortem Technologies has entered a partnership with European defense giant MBDA to integrate autonomous counter-drone solutions into air defense systems in service all over Europe.
The companies have introduced the “FireThorn” solution as part of their collaboration. Described as a fully autonomous interceptor, the system is envisioned to take on one-way attack drones such as Iran’s Shahed and the Russian-made Geran drones.
FireThorn combines Fortem’s high-speed airframe with a NATO-approved warhead from MBDA designed for kinetic engagements.
