Finnish defense firm Patria is exploring the potential integration of mine-laying capabilities with its TRACKX all-terrain armored tracked vehicle.
Under a memorandum of understanding, Patria will evaluate pairing its TRACKX flatbed variant with a mine-laying system from Polish company Bydgoskie Zakłady Elektromechaniczne BELMA S.A.
BELMA’s modular and fully automated mine-laying system can lay up to 600 anti-tank mines in under 20 minutes.
The preliminary solution could lead to a mobile and adaptable capability for “selected international markets,” while supporting Patria’s goal of expanding armored vehicle cooperation with Polish defense companies.
Jussi Järvinen, Executive VP of Patria’s Protected Mobility business area, described the agreement as “an important step in exploring how Patria TRACKX could serve as a modern tracked platform for specialized mission systems.”
“Together with BELMA, we see strong potential to develop a competitive and flexible solution for customers in targeted international markets,” he added.
TRACKX Vehicle
TRACKX was developed through the FAMOUS (Future Highly Mobile Augmented Armoured Systems) program, an EU-funded initiative focused on advancing military mobility and combat capabilities.
Introduced in September 2025, the military vehicle can operate across a range of terrain and features NATO-standard ballistic and mine protection.
It is operated by a driver and commander, can carry up to 10 troops, and can be armed with a 12.7mm machine gun.
Finland, Latvia, and Norway signed a statement of intent in July 2026 to acquire the TRACKX system, which could lead to serial procurement by the beginning of next year.
