Embraer Selects Fokker to Support Netherlands’ Incoming C-390 Fleet

Embraer has selected Fokker Services Group to provide maintenance and technical support for the Royal Netherlands Air Force’s C-390 Millennium transport fleet as the aircraft enter service.

The appointment makes the Dutch company an authorized service center for the Brazilian-built aircraft.

Under the agreement, Fokker will provide on-site assistance through field service representatives, supporting the fleet’s introduction into service and subsequent operations.

Fokker CEO Roland van Dijk said the agreement expands the company’s support for military operators and contributes to the long-term availability of the aircraft.

The arrangement also establishes local support for the Dutch C-390 fleet ahead of deliveries scheduled from late 2027 through 2029.

The Netherlands and Austria signed a joint agreement with Embraer in 2024 to acquire nine C-390 aircraft, with five allocated to the Dutch air force and four to the Austrian air force.

The Royal Netherlands Air Force will use the five C-390s to replace its four C-130 Hercules aircraft, expanding its transport fleet to five planes.

Transport and Refueling Roles

The C-390 is a multi-mission aircraft designed to move troops, vehicles, and other cargo.

Its capabilities also include equipment and personnel airdrops, medical evacuation, search and rescue, firefighting, and humanitarian missions.

According to Embraer, the aircraft can carry up to 26 tons and reach speeds of 470 knots (870 kilometers/540 miles per hour).

It is also designed to operate from temporary or unpaved runways, allowing it to serve locations with limited airfield infrastructure.

Removable air-to-air refueling equipment gives the aircraft the capability to refuel other planes.

It can also receive fuel in flight to extend its operating range.
