The Mexican Air Force, Fuerza Aérea Mexicana (FAM), has announced the acquisition of its second C‑130J‑30 Super Hercules tactical airlifter from Lockheed Martin.
The move comes around eight months after the FAM received its initial C-130J, becoming the first Latin American air force to operate the aircraft and deploy it to deliver emergency supplies, medical aid, and personnel during the twin earthquakes that occurred in Venezuela in June.
As a stretch variant with an additional 15 feet (4.5 meters) of cargo space, the C‑130J‑30 features increased payload capacity, range, power, and fuel efficiency.
It will enable Mexico to sustain rapid humanitarian assistance while reinforcing its strategic airlift role.

C-130 Stretch Variant
The C‑130J‑30 has the capacity to carry eight pallets and accommodate up to 128 combat troops or 92 paratroopers.
It can fly at speeds of 410 miles (660 kilometers) per hour at 22,000 feet (6,706 meters).
While carrying a payload weighing 44,500 pounds (20,227 kilograms), the aircraft has a service ceiling of 26,000 feet (8,000 meters).
Apart from Mexico, the C-130J-30 is in service or under order with several countries, including Australia, Indonesia, New Zealand, and the US.
