$10M Award Funds New Defense AI Research Program at Fayetteville State

Fayetteville State University (FSU) will use a new $10-million US Department of Defense award to build an applied artificial intelligence program focused on defense challenges, including contested logistics and biomanufacturing.

The five-year initiative will expand FSU’s AI capabilities by supporting faculty and student researchers while establishing infrastructure to develop and test new defense technologies.

Undergraduate and graduate students will work on projects spanning AI, data science, advanced manufacturing, and biotechnology, helping build a pipeline of researchers for the defense sector.
