The US Marine Corps has announced it will offer enlistment bonuses of up to $15,000 for fiscal 2027 to attract recruits into cyber operations and electronics sustainment.

The incentives, taking effect in October under a newly released administrative message, target high-priority roles to help the military compete in the “war for talent” and expand its modernized force.

In the updated Enlistment Bonus Program, recruits signing on for cyber and cryptographic operations or electronic maintenance qualify for $15,000 payouts.

The marine corps is also offering $5,000 and $10,000 shipping bonuses for applicants adjusting their training start dates, as well as targeted investment bonuses of $7,000 for adding one year of service or $15,000 for two more years.

Active-duty enlistees can receive only one bonus, while reserve applicants enlisting for six years can earn an enlistment bonus of up to $10,000 and pair it with a GI Bill kicker worth up to $350 monthly for 36 months, subject to funding availability.

‘Critical’ Pipeline

The strategy aligns with the US Marine Corps’ broader Force Structure Review, which enables investment and growth in specialized capabilities in artificial intelligence, counter-drone systems, and electronic warfare.

“The Marine Corps’ objective is to maximize the number of fully trained, qualified, experienced, and deployable Marines,” the service said.

“It is critical to channel applicants into the right occupational fields to maximize our return on investment and increase Marines’ propensity to serve beyond their initial contract.”
