Denmark Approves New Ukraine Military Aid Package Worth $632M

Denmark has pledged a new aid package for Ukraine, allocating 4.2 billion Danish kroner ($632 million) from this year to 2028.

The aid includes artillery and ammunition to secure a more stable supply for Kyiv’s forces.

It also includes funds to assist the Ukrainian Air Force, providing equipment for fighter jets and expanding training programs.

The measure also supports the Czech Ammunition Initiative, launched last year by Denmark, the Czech Republic, and the Netherlands to jointly fund artillery shell purchases for Ukraine.

Danish funds for Kyiv are allocated through the Ukraine Fund’s military assistance framework and supported with reimbursements from the European Peace Facility.

“From the Danish side, we are doing what we can to give Ukraine the best cards in hand both on the battlefield and in the negotiation room,” said Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen.

“The best we can do here and now is to increase military support for Ukraine and strengthen Ukrainian defense capabilities,” added the minister.

Military Support for Kyiv

Over the past three years, Denmark has pledged over 20 aid packages for Ukraine, aiming to boost Kyiv’s defense capabilities amid the ongoing conflict with Russia.

Earlier this month, Copenhagen revealed plans to purchase weapons and ammunition worth 830 million euros ($934 million) directly for Ukraine’s defense using frozen Russian assets.

In September 2024, Ukraine’s Armed Forces took delivery of 18 domestically produced Bohdana self-propelled howitzers, funded by Denmark through a direct procurement deal with Ukrainian defense firms.

Denmark, together with the Netherlands, is also spearheading the transfer and training of F-16 fighter jets for Ukraine and has approved their use against Russian weapons depots and other key targets.
