Australian Army riflemen from Alpha Company of the 8th/9th Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment rehearse disembarking drills off a CH-47 Chinook during an Air Mobile Operation familiarisation and integration training exercise at Gallipoli Barracks, Brisbane. *** Local Caption *** Soldiers from Battle Group Ram, centred on, 8th/9th Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (8/9 RAR), took part in CH-47 Chinook integration training at Gallipoli Barracks, Brisbane, in June. The activity was supported by 5th Aviation Regiment. Soldiers conducted loading and offloading drills, refining their skills for air mobile operations. The training enhances Battle Group Rams readiness for major exercises such as Exercise Diamond Strike or operational deployments.

SGT Chris Hughes, LCPL Ben Crawford and TPR Liam Skinner supported testing of the Boxer Combat Reconnaissance Vehicle *** Local Caption *** Testing of the Boxer Combat Reconnaissance Vehicle was recently undertaken in Germany, by members of CASG Land Domain and 2/14 LHR (QMI). Tests included firing the MK30-2 cannon and MAG58 machine gun in extreme weather conditions, as well as testing the new programmable munitions capability. Three soldiers from 2/14 LHR (QMI) were involved in testing at the Rheinmetall site in Unterluss, Germany, where the vehicles Lance 2.0 turret was designed and initial production has commenced. The visit included a brief on the Block II vehicle design, operation of the Combat Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance system and new weapon control systems. Development of these systems included input from 2/14 LHR soldiers, leveraging their experience with the Block I vehicles.

An Australian Army Landing Craft Mechanised Mk8 (LCM8) from 10 Forces Support Battalion arrives in Cairns, Queensland as part of Australian Defence Force support recovery efforts in the region after Ex Tropical Cyclone Jasper. *** Local Caption *** The Australian Defence Force is providing support to the Queensland Reconstruction Agency to access and resupply isolated and vulnerable communities in the vicinity of Douglas, Cook and Wujal Wujal ahead of the wet season. Defence is providing Australian Army CH-47F Chinook helicopters and a landing craft to transport bulk resupply and delivery of engineering equipment into isolated communities currently recovering from Ex-Tropical Cyclone Jasper. Additionally, Defence will provide personnel and equipment to help clear access and larger scale debris to isolated communities, as well as specialist aviation and maritime planning and light engineering support.

Australian and Singaporean defence personnel conduct CBRN training on board HMAS Brisbane whilst alongside in Sembawang *** Local Caption *** Australian Army special operations force soldiers from the Special Operations Engineer Regiment (SOER) joined 36th and 39th Battalion, Singapore Combat Engineers, specialists for counter-CBRNE (chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and high-yield explosives) training in Singapore as part of Indo-Pacific Endeavour 2023. The Australian Army and Singapore Army combat engineers conducted training together in Singapore and on the Royal Australian Navy destroyer HMAS Brisbane to share skills and further enhance interoperability. SOER counter-CBRNE specialist soldiers are highly trained and responsible for developing Australian Defence Force doctrine and ensuring the ADF is equipped to meet current and future needs. SOER is an Australian Army special operations force unit within Special Forces Group providing the Australian Government with unique technical capabilities in support of the national interest.
