Red Cat Holdings has signed an agreement with Sine Engineering’s US business to integrate communications and GPS-independent positioning technologies into its aerial drones and uncrewed surface vessels.
The deal covers systems designed to maintain control, video feeds, and data transmission in environments where electronic warfare disrupts communications or denies access to satellite navigation.
The partnership will initially focus on Red Cat’s Blue Ops maritime platforms and supporting networking infrastructure, while also exploring applications across the company’s aerial drone portfolio.
Developed and tested in Ukraine, Sine’s technologies include communications and control links, GPS-free positioning, and networking equipment that connects uncrewed platforms with supporting infrastructure.
Initial Integration Underway
Red Cat said initial integration and testing of Sine’s technologies are underway, with the systems already used alongside its Hellcat aerial drone in Ukraine.
The two companies plan to test how aerial drones, uncrewed surface vessels, buoys, and beacons can operate as a connected network.
Connecting these platforms and supporting equipment could extend their operational reach and help coordinate uncrewed missions across maritime areas, including dispersed island groups.
The companies intend to pursue opportunities with US, Ukrainian, and other allied defense customers.
“Ukraine has become one of the world’s most important proving grounds for drone communications and electronic warfare,” said Jeff Thompson, CEO of Red Cat.
“This partnership shows how companies can combine battlefield-tested technology with US-designed and manufactured drones to deliver critical capabilities to our warfighters and allies.”
