Ukraine Says It Struck Russian Battery Plant Supplying Missile Production

Ukraine’s military said it struck a workshop at the Energia plant in Yelets, Russia’s Lipetsk region, targeting a facility that produces batteries for missiles and guided aerial bombs, local news reported.

The attack sparked a fire at the plant, which Ukraine’s General Staff described as Russia’s sole producer of batteries for aerial bomb guidance and correction kits.

It said the plant also supplies batteries for Iskander-M ballistic missile systems and sea-launched cruise missiles.

Damage Reported at Other Industrial Sites

The Ukrainian military also reported damage from strikes last week on two Russian factories it said supply missile production, as well as a drone facility near Donetsk, a Russian-occupied city in eastern Ukraine.

A separate strike damaged three buildings used to prepare and equip attack drones, along with a rail used to launch them.

Another strike on Proton-Elektrotex in Oryol, southwestern Russia, destroyed its main microchip production workshop and damaged the building and computer servers, according to Ukraine’s General Staff.

It said the factory makes electronic components used in cruise and ballistic missiles.

An attack targeted the Tolyattikauchuk chemical plant in Tolyatti, a city on the Volga River in Russia’s Samara region.

The military reported damage to a pipeline and chemical processing equipment, including two butyl rubber production units.

It said the plant supplies materials used to make solid rocket fuel for missiles.
