Denmark Says Russia Is Targeting Firms Supplying Weapons to Ukraine
Russia has begun conducting sabotage operations against Danish companies supplying weapons to Ukraine, according to a Danish intelligence official cited by Reuters.
Speaking at a homeland security conference in Copenhagen, the official from Denmark’s national security and intelligence service (PET) said Moscow was increasingly targeting weapons production to disrupt supplies reaching the battlefield.
The shift followed Russia’s assessment that broader disruption efforts had failed to deter Western military support for Ukraine, the official said.
According to PET, Russia increasingly uses Telegram and other social media platforms to recruit people without specialist training, including people experiencing homelessness or drug addiction.
Recruitment begins with simple tasks, such as photographing facilities or gathering information, before progressing to sabotage.
The official also cited a list in which Russia’s defense ministry named alleged European drone and component manufacturers as potential military targets.
Wider Security Concerns in Europe
The allegations add to European concerns about Russian efforts to pressure countries supporting Ukraine, ranging from sabotage to possible limited military action.
In June, Latvian intelligence reported indications that Moscow could be preparing a military provocation against some European and NATO nations.
The service assessed that such action could involve drones or missiles and aim to pressure governments backing Kyiv.
Denmark has also faced drone incidents affecting military sites and civilian infrastructure.
In 2025, unidentified drones were spotted over military facilities, while drone activity disrupted airport operations.
Copenhagen described the incidents as a “hybrid attack,” hinting at possible Russian involvement, though responsibility remained unconfirmed.
