Poland is seeking expanded defense partnerships with the Philippines, offering weapons and vehicles to grow its industrial position globally.
Polish Deputy Foreign Minister Wladyslaw Bartoszewski announced the outreach during political consultations in Manila, according to Reuters.
Proposed materiel includes unmanned aerial systems, radars, anti-aircraft missiles, and armored personnel carriers.
The Manila announcement follows turnover of the final seven S-70i Black Hawk helicopters to the Philippine Air Force, completing a 32-billion-peso ($509.5 million) contract signed in 2022 with Lockheed Martin’s Polish offshoot PZL Mielec.
A Philippine military delegation already visited Poland to evaluate potential acquisitions.
Under $50B Industrial Strategy
The planned collaboration with the Philippines compounds Warsaw’s broader push to commercialize its defense production globally while leveraging NATO-compatible, field-tested systems.
Bartoszewski highlighted that the move is also tied to Poland’s approximately $50-billion investment to boost its defense industry.
Observers note that Polish solutions align directly with the Southeast Asian country’s modernization goals, particularly regarding coastal and short-range air defense.
Specifically, analysts say potential acquisitions could include combat and reconnaissance drones, Piorun man-portable air defense systems, and heavy artillery.
They also point to prospective opportunities for joint drone production and supply chain integration between the two nations.
