British Army Puts Rival Drone Swarm Systems to the Test

The British Army has tested two industry-led drone swarm systems under realistic operational conditions as it moves toward fielding autonomous platforms in combat. 

The competing options were developed by Saab-owned BlueBear and the Disruptor Group, a British consortium led by Applied Intuition. The army assessed how effectively each system carried out representative battlefield tasks.

The evaluations formed Phase 1 of the Software Defined Swarms Concept Demonstrator, led by the UK Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl) in partnership with Army Headquarters and industry.
