New Ādaži Barracks Under Development for Latvian Conscripts

Latvia has commenced the development of a new barracks at the Ādaži military base in support of its compulsory military service program.

The 7,860-square-meter (84,604-square-foot) facility is designed to house approximately 450 warfighters and will incorporate external engineering spaces as well as a dedicated maneuvering and access road around the site.

It will have four stories, with the ground floor for classrooms and storage areas, and the upper levels dedicated to living quarters.

The center’s interior will feature enhanced ventilation, heating, and air conditioning systems, delivering quality living conditions for the troops.

The design and supervision of the infrastructure project are valued at 475,530 euros ($543,410) and are led by Citrus Solutions.

Meanwhile, the construction will cost nearly 10 million euros ($11.4 million) and is being handled by Selva Būve.

The consortium is scheduled to finalize the barracks in one year.

“The National Defence Service is an integral part of our security system, and this barracks will provide full-fledged accommodation conditions for the soldiers of the National Defence Service – young people who, responding to the call, invest their time and energy in strengthening Latvia’s security,” Defence Minister Andris Sprūds stated.

“At the same time, this future building demonstrates consistent and long-term planned development of military infrastructure, which is essential not only for ensuring daily needs, but also for the overall growth of the country’s defence system.”
