BAE Systems Hägglunds and Iveco Defence Vehicles have signed a memorandum of understanding to jointly offer the Bandvagn Skyddad 10 (BvS10) all-terrain vehicle for the Italian Armed Forces.
The strategic collaboration aims to localize the system’s design and production in Italy, with the platform configured according to the military’s requirements.
Throughout the partnership, the consortium will leverage “expertise, technological know-how, and experience” from previous teaming in national security projects.
To date, the BvS10 is employed by Sweden, the UK, the US, France, Austria, Germany, the Netherlands, and Ukraine.

“We are committed to continuing our effort in offering the highest standards of survivability, performance, reliability and safety to satisfy the diverse needs of the Italian Army and the Armed Forces all over the world,” Iveco Defence Vehicles CEO Claudio Catalano stated.
BAE Systems Hägglunds General Manager Tommy Gustafsson-Rask also commented on the agreement, saying that it “reinforces our commitment to enhancing European defence capabilities and bolstering the industry’s growth.”
BAE Systems’ BvS10
The BvS10 is a tracked amphibious vehicle protected by NATO-standard armor against small arms and light artillery weapons.
It is 8 meters (26 feet) long and can transport more than 10 passengers or about 8,000 kilograms (17,637 pounds) of cargo.
The platform is armed with machine guns, an automatic grenade launcher, smoke grenades, and mortars.
It moves at 70 kilometers (43 miles) per hour on land and about 5 kilometers (3 miles) per hour in water, and has a range of 500 kilometers (311 miles).
The BvS10’s modular architecture allows users to modify it for specific mission sets, including command and control, logistics, medical evacuation, repair and recovery, and weapons support.
