Exail Joins Babcock on Pilatus PC-7 Flight Simulation Contract for France

Exail has partnered with Babcock France to deliver advanced flight simulation systems for training French Air and Space Force and French Navy pilots on the Pilatus PC-7 MKX.

Under a 17-year contract awarded by the French Ministry of the Armed Forces, the agreement includes design, delivery, and long-term support services.

Exail will supply a suite of interconnected mixed-reality simulators equipped with headsets, touchscreens, high-fidelity software, and an ejection training simulator for emergency procedures.

The systems combine immersive technologies and open-cockpit layouts to support autonomous, scenario-based pilot training.

“By providing next-generation simulation technologies that bring greater realism, flexibility, and immersion to the training pipeline, Exail is helping to accelerate skill acquisition, improve mission preparedness, and support a more efficient training environment,” stated Exail.

Pilatus PC-7 MKX Training Program

Paris is advancing its military pilot training program by introducing the Pilatus PC-7 MKX as its new standard training aircraft, a step aligned with the broader Mentor 2 initiative to modernize pilot instruction across the French forces.

In March, France ordered 22 PC-7 MKX aircraft and ground-based training systems developed partly with local industry.

The order includes simulators, digital training tools, mission planning systems, and debriefing equipment to support the program. Aircraft deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2027.

The PC-7 MKX reaches a top speed of 555 kilometers (345 miles) per hour and has a wingspan of 10.4 meters (34.3 feet). It is 10.2 meters (33.7 feet) long, with a height of 3.2 meters (10.7 feet).

For safety, the PC-7 MKX includes Martin-Baker ejection seats for pilot emergency escape.
