Tekever Announces $533 Million to Transform UK Defense Landscape

British-Portuguese tech firm Tekever has announced an investment of 400 million pounds ($533 million) in defense research, infrastructure, and technology development in the UK.

The investment is part of Tekever’s five-year UK development program, Overmatch.

The program intends to transform the country’s defense capabilities through rapid innovation in artificial intelligence and autonomy.

To achieve this, it calls for bolstering advanced manufacturing.

“This strategic commitment to the UK is more than an industrial expansion – it is a plan to position the UK to lead the transformation of Europe’s defence landscape by delivering faster, more adaptive capabilities that stay ahead of evolving threats,” Tekever CEO Ricardo Mendes said.

The announcement coincides with the Royal Air Force’s introduction of the StormShroud program, which features the Tekever AR3 uncrewed aerial system.

As part of the capability, the AR3 will carry Leonardo UK’s BriteStorm electronic warfare payload, which is capable of blinding enemy radars.

The long-endurance AR3 supports a range of land and maritime operations and has been deployed in Ukraine.

Meanwhile, the StormShroud is part of the Royal Air Force’s Autonomous Collaborative Platform strategy that calls for leveraging advanced technologies to bolster the UK’s defense capabilities.
