Sweden has delivered an initial truck to the armed forces in support of the military’s heavy-duty tank transporter modernization project.
It was procured under a deal with Scania, which ordered 65 of the systems and about 60 additional units depending on warfighters’ requirements.
The new vehicle, which is a pre-production model, will be tested for standards according to the Swedish Armed Forces benchmarks ahead of the fleet’s delivery later this year.

According to data released by Stockholm, the truck is designed with four axles to reduce pressure during payload transport.
It also has a specialized crew cabin to accommodate drivers, co-drivers, and combat vehicle operators during travel.
The logistics truck is powered by a 620-horsepower engine with a 1,000-liter fuel capacity to complete at least 800 kilometers (497 miles) “in one day.”
“This has meant that we have already got it very right in the pre-series vehicle and that only minor adjustments will be needed for the start of series production,” Systems Engineer at the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration Ulf Hjelmberg said.
“The tractor is used when the armored battalion in the brigade is to be moved. Having room for the tank crew in the tractor means that unloading and grouping the tank can take place immediately after the vehicle has been parked.”
Other Non-Combat Vehicle Projects
Sweden’s heavy transporter expansion initiative for the military followed the government’s delivery of protection vehicles based on the Ford Ranger pickup truck for the armed forces in October 2024.
In April, local automobile developer Swecon accepted a contract to supply more than 80 Volvo wheel loaders for the Swedish Army’s fieldwork, maintenance, and logistics tasks.
