US Navy Awards BAE $85M Network Tactical Common Data Link Contract

BAE Systems has secured an $85-million contract to produce and deliver additional Network Tactical Common Data Link (NTCDL) systems for the US Navy.

NTCDL will enable the real-time exchange of voice, data, imagery, and full-motion video between various military sources and platforms.

The deal builds on a previous contract signed in 2022 between BAE Systems and the US Navy, extending their collaboration on the NTCDL program for another three years.

After developing the systems, the company will install them on aircraft carriers and the new Constellation-class frigates.

The construction and integration works will occur at BAE Systems’ facilities in Maryland, Colorado, New Jersey, and New York.

“We have designed and produced a faster next-generation system to meet the demands of our customers’ evolving connectivity mission requirements,” said Amber Dolan, Adaptive Communications and Sensing director at BAE Systems.

Once operational, the NTCDL system will provide communication links that allow large intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance data from multiple sources to be shared across platforms and networks.

In particular, the system will support US Navy operators in simultaneously transmitting and receiving data across aircraft, ships, and unmanned vehicles.

The NTCDL features a multi-link control system with resource management capabilities.

It also fits a server, router, and network switch that provides complete operator control and maintenance functions.
