Leonardo DRS Inaugurates Center at US Army Aberdeen Proving Ground

Leonardo DRS has unveiled a new facility in Maryland to support US Army Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG) programs.

APG houses several commands that manage the development, evaluation, and distribution of battlefield solutions for warfighters.

The center will consist of an engineering laboratory, specialized vehicle integration bays, and conference rooms to enhance coordination between Leonardo’s workforce and the army program offices.

‘Accessible Environment’

Leonardo has a longstanding partnership with the APG over multiple military projects, with most focusing on electronic warfare devices, electro-optical infrared targeting sensors, vehicle-based force protection systems, and command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (C4ISR) equipment.

Through this cooperation, the Virginia-based company was able to supply warfighters with over 1,000 Mounted Family of Computer Systems that are currently serving as the core of the US Army’s existing ground combat C4ISR network.

“We are proud to open this facility to strengthen our customer support capabilities and highlight our commitment to current and future partnerships across the APG community,” Leonardo DRS CEO Bill Lynn remarked.

“We believe that program success is based on listening to and working closely with our customer.”

“This facility will bring us closer to APG and provide an accessible and agile environment to support the development, testing and delivery of cutting-edge products for our soldiers.”
