Philippines Seeks Proposals for $202M New Military Equipment Contract
The Philippines’ Department of National Defense is seeking potential vendors for its planned purchase of ballistic helmets and body armor.
In a bid bulletin posted online, the department said the tender is open to local and foreign manufacturers who meet the country’s procurement eligibility conditions.
Interested companies must be capable of delivering 115,000 ballistic helmets to the Philippine Army over a five-year period.
The winning vendor will receive a production contract that could reach 2.9 billion Philippine pesos ($50.2 million).
Body Armor
In a separate announcement, Manila said it is allocating 8.8 billion pesos ($152.3 million) for the procurement of 115,000 pieces of body armor.
A chosen vendor must be able to deliver 23,000 units yearly for five years.
The prospective bidder should also have completed a similar contract in the last five years.
The department noted that all bidding will be conducted through “open competitive bidding procedures using a non-discretionary pass or fail criterion.”
Potential contractors have until August 20 to submit proposals.
The procurement of new military equipment is part of Manila’s ongoing military modernization drive amid escalating tensions with China.
