Lithuania Sends Drone Jammers to Ukraine Following New Aid Plan
Lithuania has sent Ukraine a donation of drone-jamming equipment in its latest military aid package, set to join the thousands of advanced Lithuanian counter-unmanned aircraft systems already deployed.
The unspecified capabilities are part of the ministry’s aid program, consisting of various kinds of weaponry, ammunition, unmanned aerial vehicles, anti-drone equipment and training and logistics support as requested by Ukraine.
The country has recently announced a long-term assistance plan for Kyiv worth 200 million euros ($217 million), planned for distribution until 2026.
“The weapons and equipment supplied by Lithuania and its allies make a critical contribution to Ukraine’s struggle for independence and the security of Europe as a whole,” Lithuanian Defense Minister Arvydas Anusauskas stated.
Continuing Support
Lithuania has provided over 1 billion euros ($1.1 billion) in aid to Ukraine since the beginning of the Russo-Ukrainian war, currently allocating 1.2 percent of its GDP to the cause.
Its major donations include two Kongsberg National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile Systems, 36 Bofors L-70 anti-aircraft guns and ammunition, and 50 M113 armored carriers.
It also announced plans to provide additional demining equipment, ammunition, and food rations to the country between 2024 and 2025.
Additionally, it plans to train about 3,000 Ukrainian soldiers by the end of 2024.
