Israel to Provide Mortar Munitions, Training Solutions to Montenegro
Elbit Systems has received a 20-million-euro ($21.8 million) contract to supply mortar munition systems and training solutions to Montenegro.
The agreement is part of the ongoing Israili government’s efforts to enhance its military cooperation with the Balkan government.
Mortar and Training Package
Under the contract, Elbit will deliver 120-millimeter mortar munition systems compatible with 4×4 armored vehicle mounts.
The company will also provide its proprietary IMI Academy program to train Montenegrin warfighters with fundamental topics such as individual, team, and special warfare skills.
“Elbit Systems is proud to take part in partnership between Israel and Montenegro,” Elbit Systems Land General Manager Yehuda Vered said.
“Elbit’s solutions provide the optimal response to the growing needs in Europe. We are committed to providing both products and professional service at the highest level to our partners and customers.”
‘Great Confidence’
The foreign military sale was signed by Israeli International Defense Cooperation Director Brig. Gen. Yair Kulas and Montenegro Defence Logistics Director Col. Vladan Martic during a ceremony in Tel Aviv.
“This marks the third agreement with our partners in Montenegro since bolstering our defense relations in 2019 and is a great expression of confidence in the Israeli defense industry,” Kulas stated.
“Montenegro is a partner and ally of Israel and faces complex security challenges like other European countries. Israeli defense industries are able to provide them with technological solutions of the highest standard.”
