Textron Aviation has delivered a Cessna Grand Caravan EX utility aircraft to the Belize Defence Force as part of a $7.84-million US Army foreign military sale.
The handover was conducted at the Williamson Hangar Complex in Ladyville.
The delivery includes spare parts, training support, and on-site maintenance services.
First Belizean Caravan EX
The aircraft will be flown for maritime patrol and related missions under the Belize Ministry of National Defense and Border Security.
“The Grand Caravan EX… will be used as a multi-mission platform for Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance, Casualty Evacuation, Search and Rescue, Air Mobility, Light Air Drop and other operations as necessary,” Textron Special Mission Sale Vice President Bob Gibbs stated.
“This is the first Caravan EX in the service of the Belize Ministry of National Defense and Border Security.”
‘A Powerful Investment’
The aircraft includes an electro-optical infrared sensor, data link, tactical radios, and operator mission consoles.
The plane is expected to enhance Belizean defense’s capabilities against evolving national security threats.
“This latest donation from the American people is a powerful investment in the future of the Belize Defence Force and the Belize interagency,” US Ambassador Michelle Kwan said during the handover ceremony.
“We are proud to partner with Belize in our shared pursuit of secure borders and regional stability.”
