VALLETTA, Malta – The Lewis B. Puller-class expeditionary sea base USS Hershel “Woody” Williams (ESB 4) undocks during its first Regular Overhaul (ROH), a planned maintenance period, in the European area of operations at Palumbo Shipyard Malta. ROHs are routine, planned maintenance periods providing necessary repairs, maintenance and modernization for the ship to operate at full technical capacity and mission capability for its entire designed service life.

The Independence variant litoral combat ship USS Canberra (LC30) arrives in Sydney, Australia July 18, 2023. The ship will be commissioned July 22 in Sydney. Australia welcomed the USS Canberra to Sydney Harbor, with HMAS Canberra guiding the Independence-variant littoral combat ship to berth alongside Fleet Base East ahead of the formal commissioning on July 22. The crew of HMAS Canberra and USS Canberra will focus on joint activities during the commissioning week, including playing sport, ship tours and sharing their countries’ culture and traditions. This ceremonial commissioning emphasizes the more than 100 years of mateship built on friendship, history, democracy, and respect. The two countries have fought side-by-side in every major conflict since World War 1. Canberra’s namesake is a reminder of the shared responsibility the U.S. and Australia have to each other as allies.

CARTAGENA, Colombia (July 15, 2023) East-coast based U.S. Naval Special Warfare Operators (SEALs) and Colombian special operations personnel drive a combat rubber raiding craft alongside the Los Angeles-class fast-attack submarine USS Pasadena (SSN 752) during UNITAS 2023. Hosted this year by Colombia, UNITAS is the world’s longest-running maritime exercise bringing together multinational forces from 20 partner nations, training in joint maritime operations that enhance tactical proficiency and increase interoperability.
