Embraer Enters Negotiations to Deliver C-390 Millennium to Czech Army

The Czech Republic has begun negotiations with Embraer to procure C-390 Millennium transport aircraft for the country’s armed forces.

A Royal Australian Air Force C-17A Globemaster III at Ben Gurion airport in Israel on 15 October 2023 supporting assisted departure flights for Australian citizens and their families, and other approved foreign nationals, due to the Hamas-Israel conflict. *** Local Caption *** In October 2023, Defence deployed a Royal Australian Air Force KC-30A and a C-17A Globemaster III aircraft under Operation BEECH. Operation BEECH is Defences support to the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade-led assisted departure flights being undertaken as a result of the Hamas-Israel conflict. The Australian Defence Force aircraft will assist Australian citizens and their families, and other approved foreign nationals, to depart from Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv to Dubai.

Slovenia Inks Second C-27J Spartan Procurement With Italy

Slovenia has signed a contract to procure a second C-27J Spartan military transport aircraft from Italy, building on a 2021 $51.26 million deal.

No. 37 Squadron C-130J Hercules A97-448 and A97-467 on the RAAF Base Richmond flightline. Both aircraft have been fitted with Ka-Band Satellite Communications antennas. *** Local Caption *** A second C-130J Hercules has been fitted with a Ka-Band Satellite Communications (SATCOM) antenna, providing aircrew and embarked personnel with high-speed data connectivity whilst on missions around the globe. The Ka-band SATCOM system was installed on C-130J A97-467, and follows an installation of the same system on A97-448 in 2017. Air Force plans to equip a total of six C-130Js with the SATCOM system, which can support live-streaming of high-definition video, in-flight mission planning, and coordination with headquarters and other nodes around the world.

Bundy Range in the Northern Territory. *** Local Caption *** On 22 July 23, No. 35 Squadron (35SQN) completed interoperability training with Marine Rotational Force Darwin, conducting two airdrop flights over Mount Bundy Training Area in the Northern Territory. The C-27J Spartan dropped four Light Equipment and three Container Delivery System loads each flight. The United States Marine Corps personnel conducted the Drop Zone survey, constructed the airdrop loads, and performed drop zone safety officer duties on the ground, enabling the airdrop to occur. This training achieved further synergy between Australia and partner nations, strengthening our important partnership with the United States. 35SQN is located at RAAF Base Amberley, Queensland, with a C-27J is currently based in Darwin for Exercise Talisman Sabre until early August.
