Brigadier General Jeffrey Smiley
U.S. Army Brigadier General Jeffrey Smiley is in charge of NATO’s military advisory mission in Afghanistan.
On October 18, 2018, Smiley was shot and wounded in a Taliban attack that killed powerful Afghan police chief General Abdul Raziq and National Security Directorate provincial chief General Mominera. Kandahar governor Zalmay Wesa was wounded but survived the shooting.
