UK to Send Challenger 3 Tanks to Defend Estonia

3 Medical Regiment Role 1 validation training Army medics have been training to give life-saving care – even under fire. Full-time Regulars and spare-time Reservists, including those of Preston-based 3 Medical Regiment, have this week been tested on the frozen North Luffenham training area in the Midlands. A battlefield environment was simulated using blank ammunition and actors, but Combat Medical Technicians know that one day they might be asked to do it for real. The ‘care under fire’ scenario is designed to see how medics will react while attending to a casualty under a hail of bullets. Soldiers must apply immediate first aid and carry the wounded, including the casualty’s 40kg of kit, whilst others provide covering fire. Extra tests staged during the training examined their ability to treat conditions as varied as chest infections and gunshot wounds, all from nothing more than a tent. Once completed, the exercise qualifies the Army Medical Services’ first responders to fulfil their role anywhere in the world. This is a joint battlegroup exercise involving UK and Omani troops, with ground forces supported by the Carrier Strike Group at sea and F-35 jets from the air. Exercise KHANJAR OMAN represents a key part of the Armys Future Soldier concept, which will see British soldiers more integrated with our partners in regional hubs around the world. Oman is a vital partner for the UK in the Gulf region as the UK works to promote stability and security in the region. The UK and Oman have common threats and both have shared interests regional prosperity.

UK Invests $4M in Canine Military Gear

The UK has awarded $4.07 million to Von Wolf K9 Sport & Service Dog Equipment Limited to support and train its pack of more than 500 military working dogs.
