An F-35A Lightning II aircraft under a temporary aircraft revetment being trialled at RAAF Base Williamtown, New South Wales. *** Local Caption *** In October 2023, the Air Combat Group initiated and executed a trial to construct a temporary aircraft revetment at RAAF Base Williamtown. The trial demonstrated alternative passive defence methods and materials. Aircraft revetments are open-air structures intended to shield parked aircraft from discovery, blast and fragmentation damage. Personnel from No.65 Air Base Recovery Squadron were tasked with constructing the revetment. The trial aimed to inform Air Force of future dispersed aircraft revetment solutions in support of agile operation concepts.
