A new loitering munition weighing just over five pounds (2.3 kilograms) could give US forces a lightweight way to strike armored vehicles, fortified structures, and other targets from more than 25 miles (40 kilometers) away.
Developed by Heaviside Industries, the TYR loitering munition was introduced at the AUSA Annual Meeting and Exposition in Washington, D.C., on October 12.
The system reaches speeds exceeding 150 miles (241 kilometers) per hour and offers more than 60 minutes of flight time, according to the company.
