Leonardo’s IDV UK has rolled out two new configurations of its VIKING unmanned ground vehicle (UGV), including one equipped for electronic warfare (EW) and signals intelligence (SIGINT) missions.
The EW variant combines Guardian Vantage EW and SIGINT systems with a portable Guardian Shield unit, allowing the UGV to detect, locate, and disrupt threats while operating away from the troops it supports.
IDV said the VIKING can conduct jamming from a remote position before relocating, creating a “jam-and-scoot” approach similar to the “shoot-and-scoot” tactic used by mobile launchers.
