The French Army has received its first R3-standard Jaguar reconnaissance and combat vehicles from KNDS France, with nearly 25 vehicles delivered or retrofitted as of September.
Deliveries of the EBRC (Engin Blindé de Reconnaissance et de Combat) platforms took place during summer 2026, with the French Ministry of the Armed Forces confirming the milestone this month.
France’s defense procurement agency certified the R3 standard fit for service on April 8, followed by the army authorizing its operational use on July 20, supporting the country’s SCORPION initiative to modernize its ground forces.
Further deliveries and retrofits to the R3 standard are planned through year-end.
Meanwhile, KNDS France said all Jaguars delivered at the previous R2 standard are scheduled to be upgraded to R3 by the end of 2027.
Jaguar Vehicle
Jaguar is a 25-tonne, 6×6 wheeled armored vehicle developed to replace the AMX-10RC in reconnaissance and direct-combat missions.
The R3 standard features new-generation sensors and effectors, along with an upgraded human-machine interface that integrates information from the vehicle’s sensors, fire-control system, and other systems.
It can also redesignate missiles in flight.
Equipped with KNDS’ digitized T40 turret, which combines a 40 mm cannon with Akeron MP anti-tank missiles, the Jaguar can neutralize targets at ranges of up to 4,000 meters (13,123 feet).
Jaguar is designed and produced by a temporary consortium comprising KNDS France, Arquus, and Thales.
KNDS leads the design, production, and in-service support, while Arquus provides the Jaguar’s mobility system and Thales supplies its common vetronics.
Belgium and Luxembourg have also selected the Jaguar under the Capacité Motorisée (CaMo) program.
