Mobix Labs has received a production order worth more than $1 million for radio-frequency (RF) sensing subsystems used in a US government security program.
The follow-on order comes from an unnamed security-technology provider and was placed through Mobix Labs’ RaGE Systems division. Multiple sensing subsystems will be integrated into the customer’s next-generation threat-detection platforms.
RaGE Systems, acquired by Mobix in 2024, has a portfolio covering RF and millimeter-wave technologies, including radio-frequency receivers and transmitters, for defense and aerospace applications.
Mobix said the order follows previous production orders for the same program, but did not identify the government agency, security program, or specific platform involved.
US Expands Threat Detection
US defense agencies have been pursuing new sensing technologies to detect threats that conventional systems can miss.
In September, the US Army awarded nearly $196 million for electromagnetic spectrum sensing and situational-awareness capabilities.
One contract covers the Heaviside MOTH spectrum analyzer, a distributed electromagnetic sensor designed to detect and report sources across the electromagnetic spectrum at the tactical edge. Another covers AI-driven Dragonfly sensors integrated onto an unmanned aircraft.
In May, the US Army selected Northrop Grumman to continue developing its Improved Threat Detection System (ITDS), advancing the program to a second phase after earlier flight tests.
ITDS is designed to detect incoming threats that may be difficult for pilots to see and integrate with existing flare and laser-based countermeasures for a coordinated response.
