One Stop Systems has received approximately $400,000 to provide high-performance computing equipment for US missile defense modeling and simulation.
A US defense prime contractor placed the award in support of the US Missile Defense Agency (MDA), according to OSS. The deal includes the company’s latest generation 4UP Max PCIe expansion platform configured with eight NVIDIA RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell GPUs.
It is the first time OSS will deploy that configuration with the customer. The company did not identify the contractor or specify which missile defense programs will use the system.
The 4UP Max can support up to eight PCIe accelerators and is designed for computing-intensive workloads that require high processing capacity, power, and cooling. OSS said the system will provide an upgrade for advanced missile defense modeling and simulation workloads.
OSS CEO Mike Knowles said demand is growing for high-end simulation environments capable of representing complex threats and operating conditions.
“Advanced missile defense simulation requires significant computing performance to accurately model increasingly complex threats and operating environments,” he said.
Missile Defense Simulation
Modeling and simulation allow the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) to test system configurations, engagement scenarios, and target behavior that may be costly or impractical to replicate through flight tests.
In August, the US selected Lockheed Martin to modernize the MDA’s Modeling & Simulation Objective Simulation Framework, a virtual environment for testing missile defense systems. The work will bring design, implementation, and testing functions into a unified software-based environment.
That month, the MDA also awarded Northrop Grumman a contract to expand simulation and threat-modeling tools for missile defense training. The deal includes a two-year, $68.8-million base period and five one-year options, with a potential value of $606.5 million.
