Honeywell Technologies has fielded a modernized access control platform for the US Marine Corps to standardize and secure barracks facilities globally.
The initiative supports the force’s Barracks 2030 infrastructure modernization program using Honeywell’s LenelS2 OnGuard solution, managed alongside the Naval Information Warfare Center Atlantic.
Initial testing of the product was conducted at the Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort in South Carolina and met operational targets ahead of schedule, prompting a phased rollout across additional bases.
LenelS2 OnGuard
Implemented through AWS GovCloud technology, the LenelS2 OnGuard allows officials to remotely manage access permissions and track activity across installations, replacing standalone door locks that require manual updates.
The centralized platform is built to support more than 70,000 battery-powered wireless locks, using Common Access Cards as primary credentials while introducing mobile access.
Program leaders estimate that the effort has cut labor costs by approximately 80 percent and material expenses by 60 percent by paring down circuits and reducing physical infrastructure.

The project recently earned FORUM’s Disruptive Tech Award and the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association’s Distinguished Award for Excellence in Emerging Technology, further emphasizing its potential to deploy for broader US Department of Defense applications.
