The US Department of the Navy has awarded Leidos $875 million to continue operating and securing IT networks used by more than 650,000 navy and marine corps personnel worldwide.
Leidos will manage more than 425,000 devices across over 2,500 locations, providing user support, network operations, cybersecurity services, and IT modernization.
The award covers a second additional year of an existing contract to manage, secure, and modernize navy and marine corps networks.
Under the contract, the company will support three networks: the Navy Marine Corps Intranet in the continental US, the navy’s ONE-Net overseas, and the Marine Corps Enterprise Network.
“Military and civilian personnel rely on these networks to communicate, make decisions and carry out missions that protect our nation and its allies,” said Steve Hull, president of Leidos Digital.
“We’re supporting the technology they depend on so it remains secure, resilient and ready when they need it.”
Critical Networks
Leidos has supported the networks under the contract since 2020, maintaining day-to-day operations while introducing new technologies and strengthening resilience against cyberattacks and service disruptions.
As part of that work, the Virginia-based firm has deployed automation to distribute security patches across the network infrastructure.
Security patches address software vulnerabilities that attackers could exploit.
Deploying them faster reduces the time military networks and connected devices remain exposed to known threats.
According to Leidos, the technology has reduced the time needed to deliver patches to individual devices by 93 percent and accelerated enterprise-wide patching by 94 percent.
