Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace has tapped American Rheinmetall to produce machined components for MCT-30 turrets destined for the US Marine Corps’ ACV-30 amphibious combat vehicle.

The subcontract is worth about $710,000, with work to be carried out at American Rheinmetall’s facilities in Lapeer and Lansing, Michigan. Deliveries are scheduled throughout 2026 and 2027.

Kongsberg supplies the MCT-30 turret, while American Rheinmetall will contribute components manufactured in Michigan. BAE Systems, meanwhile, is the prime contractor responsible for developing and producing the ACV platform.

“The opportunity to support Kongsberg on the ACV‑30 program reflects our expanding partnership and strengthens American Rheinmetall’s role in delivering high‑quality components for critical US military platforms,” Tom McDonnell, senior vice president of sales and marketing at American Rheinmetall, said.

The MCT-30 is the first remotely operated 30mm turret to be qualified and fielded in the US. It is designed for wheeled and tracked combat vehicles, providing accurate firepower while allowing crews to operate the system from a protected position inside the vehicle.

The turret features a linkless 30mm cannon that combines lethality with high reliability and supports multiple users.

The ACV, meanwhile, is the US Marine Corps’ replacement for its aging Assault Amphibious Vehicle fleet. Four variants are planned for the ACV family: the personnel carrier, command and control, recovery, and ACV-30 infantry fighting vehicle.
