AI-generated footage is emerging as a tool in Russia’s information campaign, with questionable battlefield videos being used to portray military advances in Ukraine.
The Institute for the Study of War said some footage circulated by Russian military sources appears to have been digitally manipulated or altered using artificial intelligence, while other clips seem to show older footage presented as recent.
Russia’s recent claims of battlefield gains in the Oleksandrivka and Huliaipole directions were accompanied by a wave of footage purporting to show those advances.
