“Armed bandits” killed 20 civilians travelling on a truck in Niger, in a western region where jihadist groups are active, locals said on Saturday.
The attack occurred Thursday near the town of Komabangou, with the gunmen spraying bullets at the truck’s driver and his 19 passengers, all men, according to a local speaking on condition of anonymity for their safety.
Other residents and local media confirmed the toll.
