Saildrone Announces European Branch in Denmark

Autonomous systems developer Saildrone will launch a subsidiary in Denmark to provide maritime solutions for European customers.

The expansion will see the American company establish a facility in Copenhagen that is expected to supply its unmanned surface systems proven for “extended durations in the world’s harshest maritime environments.”

This will further support the firm’s ongoing commitment to enhance the situational awareness of allies through advanced solutions.

Saildrone’s upcoming hub in Denmark will employ local talents to deliver training, mission planning, and associated support services to regional customers and partners.

Solutions for ‘Sensitive Waters’

Among the capabilities that the firm will promote in Europe is integration with next-generation sensor suites for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance above and below “strategically sensitive waters,” bolstering monitoring missions for vessel traffic, suspicious behaviors, and national resource protection.”

The craft will also perform deep sea mapping to relay a much clearer perspective of the ocean floor and underwater infrastructure, such as communication cables, pipelines, and offshore energy platforms.

Such assets will be coupled with high-resolution seafloor imagery and proprietary machine learning algorithms to allow early detection of anomalies and adversaries.

Target Market: Baltic and North Seas

Saildrone highlighted that its future segment in Denmark will be particularly beneficial for countries involved in “geopolitical tensions and rising activity” in the Baltic region.

Simultaneously, the company’s technologies will be offered to operators around the North Sea, which include the UK, France, and Germany.

Once inaugurated, Saildrone’s Denmark arm will add to the firm’s growing presence in the US and the Asia Pacific.

“Given the recent sabotage of critical undersea infrastructure in the Baltic Sea, the need for permanent maritime domain awareness has never been greater,” Saildrone CEO and Founder Richard Jenkins stated.

“I am delighted to announce the establishment of Saildrone Denmark to facilitate our European operations and support allied nations at this critical time for regional maritime security.”
