Sierra Space Demos Small GPS Satellite for US Space Force
Sierra Space has completed testing its Resilient Global Positioning System (R-GPS) satellite for the US Space Force’s Quick Start program.
The effort aims to deploy a fleet of small-form-factor satellites to space that will serve as a “layer” of protection against jamming and spoofing threats targeting American GPS infrastructures.
The recent activity validated the Sierra satellite’s hardware, firmware, and software capabilities to generate varying frequencies and ensure that GPS-based navigation is “accurate, secure, and compatible” with devices on the ground.
