Anduril Open to Establishing Factory in UK
American drone developer Anduril has revealed its intent to open a production facility in the UK to support the EU’s collective military modernization strategies.
The plan came after the California-based company’s signing of an approximately $38-million deal earlier this month to supply advanced unmanned aerial systems to war-torn Ukraine in partnership with the British government.
“If we get enough orders, absolutely we are planning to open a facility in the UK,” Anduril’s UK and Europe Manager Rich Drake told Business Insider.
If pushed through, Anduril will be among the new contributors to the EU, which recently announced it will “rearm” its defense capabilities in response to the growing regional conflicts as well as US President Donald Trump’s decision to pause military assistance to Kyiv.
Latest Allied Support for Ukraine
Anduril’s announcement followed the UK’s plan in March to discuss a possible “peacekeeping force” with about 30 international military officials to promote a ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine.
Meanwhile, France unveiled preparations for its next military assistance package for Ukraine, incorporating fighter jet missiles.
Also in March, Germany approved $3 billion in military aid for Kyiv consisting of “munitions, drones, armored vehicles and air-defense systems.”
Estonia, which also borders Russia, said earlier this week it would send tactical equipment to the Ukrainian Armed Forces worth $100 million. The same month, Sweden donated artillery and radar systems to Ukraine.
