The US Air Force (USAF) has awarded Northrop Grumman a follow-on contract to continue testing and evaluating a military communications system.
Northrop will deliver its NG InSight ecosystem: a multifunctional, software-programmable solution with an open architecture that enables quick updates and customization without hardware changes to adapt to any mission, platform, or domain.
As the company connects the solution to existing USAF communications networks, Northrop will demonstrate NG InSight’s capability to integrate third-party technologies as part of its sustainable and adaptable features.
“Evolving threats create an ongoing need for secure and reliable communications to stay ahead of adversaries,” said company VP and General Manager of Networked Information Solutions, Jenna Paukstis.
“NG InSight enables faster decision-making for any mission scenario while providing flexibility to ensure warfighters across the battlespace can share information quickly and securely.”
Meanwhile, the USAF will assess the solution to potentially support the Department of the Air Force (DAF) Battle Network.
The DAF Battle Network aims to integrate various systems across the Air Force and Space Force and serves as the USAF’s contribution to the broader Combined Joint All-Domain Command and Control (CJADC2) initiative of the Department of Defense.
CJADC2 seeks to create a unified network across the US military’s multiple branches, enhancing the speed and accuracy of data-sharing and decision-making.
