Saab and Ukrainian defense firm Radionix have signed a memorandum of understanding for the development and maintenance of sensors and defense electronics.

Each of the entities will leverage their respective strengths for the partnership.

Radionix produces radars and optical targeting equipment, while Saab has a much wider range of defense products, including electronic warfare systems, radars, and aircraft self-protection suites.

“We look forward to this collaboration with Radionix, leveraging both companies’ expertise. This agreement underscores Saab’s strong commitment to supporting Ukraine’s defence capability and defence industry,” Deputy CEO of Saab Anders Carp said.

Radionix’ product portfolio includes radio communication and navigation systems.

In an interview with Turkish outlet Defense Here in 2022, senior company official Priadko Oleksii said that the firm was working on seekers for air-to-air missiles.

“We are open to cooperation with foreign customers, and we are very interested to have good cooperation with the Turkish companies,” Oleksii was quoted as saying.

Investment in Ukraine Defense Sector

Meanwhile, several Western companies have either already begun collaborating with Ukrainian firms or are looking to do so in the near future.

Earlier this year, Norwegian defense firm Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace announced it would produce missiles for the NASAMS air defense system in Ukraine.

Similarly, Franco-German KNDS launched a Ukrainian subsidiary in October 2024 to facilitate maintenance, repair, and overhaul of KNDS platforms delivered to Ukraine.

Before that, Rheinmetall was contracted by the Ukrainian government in July 2024 to build an arms factory in Ukraine.
