Fujifilm to Field C-Arm Scanners at US Military Health Centers
The US Defense Logistics Agency has awarded Fujifilm Healthcare Americas Corporation a $10-million contract to integrate its surgical C-arm systems for joint force medical facilities.
The technology is a C-shaped scanning machine that uses continuous X-ray beams to collect real-time images of a patient’s body.
Under the terms, the Massachusetts-based firm will field its proprietary Persona C mobile fluoroscopy system across multiple sites supervised by the US Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps.
After installation, the device will aid military medical experts across “a broad range of diagnostic imaging and minimally invasive surgical procedures.”
Deliveries and outfitting will be facilitated for four years, starting in the first quarter of 2025.
Fujifilm noted that the US government’s decision to utilize its C-arm platform came after a detailed assessment and comparison against similar devices on the market.
Benchmarks evaluated include “functionality, adaptability, service support infrastructure, and cybersecurity compliance,” with Fujifilm being recognized as the primary partner that met and exceeded the military’s requirements.
“Fujifilm is honored yet again to receive a multi-year federal award from the [Defense Logistics Agency], as it underscores the level of trust military officials place in our advanced technologies to treat our nation’s service men and women,” Fujifilm Healthcare Americas’ Federal Government Business Senior Director Lou Cavallaro stated.
“This esteemed achievement speaks volumes about Fujifilm’s ongoing commitment to developing high quality diagnostic imaging solutions to improve patient outcomes.”
Previous Military Healthcare Contracts
Fujifilm’s recent partnerships with the US armed forces involved the approval of the enterprise’s flagship mammographic imaging workstation for military use in 2024.
A year earlier, the company received clearance to operate its cloud-based medical data storage solution for applications across US defense customers.
In 2021, Fujifilm signed a similar Defense Logistics Agency contract to deploy C-arm solutions for military treatment facilities.
