Raytheon Clinches $322M TOW Anti-Armor Missile Deal With US Army

Raytheon has been awarded a $322.5-million contract to supply additional TOW (Tube-launched, Optically-tracked, Wireless-guided) anti-armor missiles to the US Army.

The deal follows similar agreements in August 2023 and October 2024, which combined for nearly $1 billion.

The Pentagon announcement did not specify how many TOW top-attack missiles are being added to the previous orders.

However, it confirmed that the delivery will occur on or before September 2026.

Raytheon will fulfill the contract at its facility in Arizona.

A Trusted Weapon

The TOW missile is a highly regarded, precision anti-armor system designed for heavy assault, anti-fortification, and anti-amphibious landing operations.

It is compatible with Stryker and Bradley armored vehicles, as well as the ITAS high-mobility multipurpose wheeled vehicle.

The missile’s telescopic sight enables operators to identify and lock onto targets, ensuring a precision kill.

Its tandem warhead maximizes effectiveness by first disabling a target’s reactive armor and then penetrating the main armor.

With a range of up to 4.5 kilometers (2.8 miles), the TOW missile remains a key asset in the arsenal of over 40 armed forces worldwide, cementing its reputation as a reliable weapon system for diverse missions.
