India’s Kalyani Group Unveils 155mm Mounted Gun at IDEX 2025
India’s Kalyani Group unveiled a 155 mm/45 caliber mounted gun system at IDEX 2025 Abu Dhabi this week.
The Multi-terrain Artillery Gun (MArG) is the world’s first 155 mm system mounted on a 4×4 high mobility vehicle.
Guns heavier than 105 mm are not considered suitable for wheeled platforms or are mounted on at least 6×6 vehicles.
Features
The 23.5-ton system intends to integrate firepower, range, and mobility into a single platform.
It features a range of over 36 kilometers (22 miles) with conventional rounds and a rate of fire of 10 rounds in 3 minutes in intense mode and 42 rounds in 60 minutes in sustained mode.
The MArG hosts 18 rounds and is ready for action in 1.5 minutes during the day and 2 minutes at night.
Its compatibility with both NATO and in-house rounds ensures versatility and interoperability with allied forces.
Additional features of the MArG 45 include an elevation range of -2 to +72 degrees and a traverse of 25 degrees left and right.
Upgrade on MArG 39
It is an upgrade over the MArG 155mm/ 39 caliber, unveiled in December 2021.
“This mounted gun platform represents a significant leap in defense technology, showcasing our commitment to innovation and excellence,” said Baba Kalyani, Chairman & MD of Kalyani’s parent company, Bharat Forge Ltd.
“It is a testament to our capability to develop ‘Designed and Made in India’ most advanced artillery defence platforms.”
